Applied improvisation training for business
facilitated by Bogdan Grigore · founder & lead facilitator Improvizatie.ro
Improvizatie.ro facilitates applied improvisation training for teams and companies in Romania, since 2008, with the outcome being behaviours practised in the room and carried further through debrief. 150+ multinationals, 2-hour sessions or year-round programmes, in Romanian or English, online or on site.

Who it is for
- HR and L&D looking for a learning format people remember, not another day of slides.
- Team managers with a concrete problem: people who do not speak up in meetings, a newly formed team, a fresh reorganisation.
- Teams in silos, working on the same project without talking across departments.
- Hybrid and remote teams, who rarely meet face to face and lose the informal context.
- Senior management teams, sceptical of "fun" activities. Here the debrief does all the work.
- Organisers of conferences and internal events who need hundreds of people to stay engaged, not just present.
The problem it solves
People and teams improvise all the time, they just do not notice it: in the meeting that goes off the agenda, in the question you have no prepared answer for, in the difficult conversation that starts in the hallway. The difference between teams that cope there and teams that freeze is not talent, it is training.
Applied improvisation training gives the team the frame, the vocabulary and the nerve to improvise on purpose: to listen all the way through, to build on someone else's idea instead of cutting it, to make a mistake without hiding it, and to stay functional when plan A disappears.
Why the rest of the site says "workshop" when you searched for "training"
They are the same thing here, with one nuance that matters for the outcome: we do not give a lecture about improvisation, we facilitate an experience. People do, then name what they did. The format is corporate training (objective set beforehand, design built on the objective, debrief at the end), but the role in the room is facilitator, not lecturer. That is why we call it a workshop.

The 8 directions
Same principle, eight applications. Each has its own page, with the exercises and the target audience:
- Sales and account management: active listening, reading the client, handling objections.
- Leadership and managers: presence, flexible status, decisions under pressure.
- Team building: trust and barriers between departments, from 6 to 100+ people.
- Public speaking: presence, voice, the pause, spontaneity.
- Creativity and innovation: suspending judgement and "yes, and…" in brainstorming.
- Conferences and big events: openers, energisers, interaction at scale.
- Soft skills: listening, empathy, feedback, non-verbal communication.
- Status and power positioning: consciously reading and adjusting status, starting from Keith Johnstone.
What a session looks like
| Duration | Number of participants | Space required | Language | Online or in person |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 hours (standard format); full day or a moment inside a conference, on request | the reference group is up to 12; for large groups, sessions are combined | a room clear of furniture, where people can move | Romanian or English | both, at the same price |
How it is built, in five steps
- Discovery. A conversation about what is actually happening in the team and what needs to be different afterwards. Without this, any game is decorative.
- Design. The exercises are chosen for your objective, not from a standard list. Their order builds psychological safety before it asks for exposure.
- Play. The team does, it does not listen. Nobody is pushed on stage and nobody has to be funny.
- Debrief. After each experience: what happened, what we noticed, where this shows up on Monday morning at your place.
- Application. Challenges between sessions and revisiting the theme with other exercises, if we work in a programme rather than a single session.
What you get afterwards
- The debrief, which links the exercises to your team's real situations.
- Professional photos from the session, taken by the facilitator: recall anchors for participants and, if you want, material for internal or external communication.
- Challenges between sessions, if we work in a programme rather than an isolated session.
The discovery call, the session design, the facilitation, the debrief and the photos are included in the price. The room, the catering and travel outside Bucharest are not.
A use case
Annual company conference, 400 employees in the room, departments presenting their products and plans one after another. One department asked for something else: not another presentation, but two facilitated moments in which the room made real contact with one of their processes and with the way they treat their clients.
After the event, the company's CEO came in person to congratulate. Not for the figures and not for the content, but exactly for the two moments in which the 400 people were involved and, in his words, thoroughly entertained. The format had stayed a conference. What was remembered were the minutes in which people did something, rather than listened to someone.
Who facilitates
Bogdan Grigore, founder and lead facilitator of Improvizatie.ro. Since 2008 he has facilitated hundreds of workshops, events and conferences for 150+ multinationals. He led IAF Romania, the local chapter of the International Association of Facilitators. He takes the photos in the room himself, which means nobody walks in with a stranger's camera over a team that has just dropped its guard.
The proof
Since 2008, 150+ multinationals, of which 45 are named publicly: Adobe, Allianz, BCR, Coca-Cola, Danone, IBM, ING, Johnson & Johnson, KPMG, L'Oréal, Oracle, Samsung, Servier, Ubisoft, Unilever, Vodafone and others.
"He is one of those facilitators who does not just deliver content, but creates contexts in which people learn from each other and build real connections."
Roberta Ioachim, Training Manager, Servier Romania
How much it costs
A single 2-hour session, for a group of up to 12 people, costs 750 EUR. The price drops to 600 EUR per session on a 10-session package and to 500 EUR per session on 20. Online or on site, the same price. For a full day, a conference or a large event, the quote is tailored.

What it is NOT
- It is not an acting or stand-up course: we do not train comedians, we train teams.
- It is not a show: nobody watches, everybody plays.
- It is not a team building spent in one day. Without a debrief, laughter stays just laughter.
- It is not group therapy and it does not pull people abruptly out of their comfort zone. Exposure grows gradually, with their consent.
- It does not replace technical training: it works on behaviour and reflexes, not on specialist knowledge.
Frequently asked questions
What is applied improvisation training for business?
It is an experiential learning format in which the team practises behaviours through improvisation exercises, then names them in a debrief that links them to real situations in the organisation. It trains listening, adapting to the unexpected, owning ideas and collaborating, not acting technique.
Do people on the team need to be funny or have stage experience?
No. Nobody is pushed on stage and nobody is judged on how funny they are. The exercises are sequenced so that psychological safety is built before any exposure is asked for.
How long is it and for how many people?
The standard format is 2 hours, for a reference group of up to 12 people. For larger groups, several sessions are combined, and for conferences and internal events there are interactive moments designed for hundreds of participants.
How much does applied improvisation training for a team cost?
A single 2-hour session, for up to 12 people, costs 750 EUR. The price drops to 600 EUR per session on a 10-session package and to 500 EUR per session on 20. The price is the same for online or on-site sessions.
Can it be delivered online and in English?
Yes, both. Sessions are facilitated in Romanian or English, online or face to face, at the same price, because the design and facilitation work is the same.
What does the company get after the session?
A debrief that links the exercises to the team's real situations, and professional photos taken during the session, used as recall anchors for participants and, if the organisation wants, in internal or external communication.
How is it different from a classic team building?
A classic team building is spent in one day. Here each experience is followed by a debrief, and the package format allows short interventions across the year, exactly when a team needs them, instead of a single event in the budget calendar. The long argument, with the science behind it, is in "Team building lasts as long as it lasts. Culture is built more often" (in Romanian).
