Improv workshop for leadership and managers
facilitated by Bogdan Grigore · founder & lead facilitator Improvizatie.ro
Leaders improvise daily: decisions without complete data, difficult conversations, plans that change. The workshop works on presence, flexible status and the art of making your team shine, because the best improviser is the one who makes others look good. Facilitated by Bogdan Grigore, since 2008.

Who it is for
- Managers and team leads who run meetings where no one speaks freely.
- Boards and leadership teams preparing for difficult decisions or conversations.
- Recently promoted managers in a leadership role for the first time.
- Leaders who often present to the team or the board and feel the message "sounds flat".
- Management teams who want to work on status and power dynamics, not just theory.

What actually happens
- "Horse Shoe" (10 minutes): trains listening before deciding. Participants position themselves on a curved spectrum, showing where they stand on a topic. The lesson: to lead, you first need to listen to where others stand.
- Colombian Hypnosis (15 minutes): trains alternating between leading and following. In pairs, one "leads" the other's movement with the palm; in the third round, both lead at the same time. Good leadership alternates leading and following, it does not impose one constantly.
- TurnTable: an advanced form of debate where participants argue from perspectives they do not naturally hold. Useful for managers who need to understand or represent positions opposite to their own before a decision.
What a session looks like
| Duration | Number of participants | Space required | Online or in person | What you get afterwards |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 hours (standard format); for development programmes, sessions are repeated periodically | from a small management team (4-8 people) to a larger cohort of managers (up to ~25) | an empty room with no furniture, where people can move | both, at the same price | professional photos + debrief linked to the real decisions and tensions in the organisation |

What it is NOT
- It is not a slide-based leadership course, it is behaviour trained through play, not theory.
- It is not comedy theatre, no one is asked to be funny.
- It is not a performance review: what happens in the room stays in the room, the aim is practice, not scoring.
- It does not replace 1:1 mentoring, it is group training on behaviours shared by the whole leadership team.
Frequently asked questions
Is it suitable for the management team or board?
Yes, it is the recommended format for that. The games stay the same, but the examples and debrief adapt to the real decisions and tensions of the leadership team.
What is "status" and what does it have to do with leadership?
Status is how posture, voice and behaviour communicate power or lack of power. Good leaders read it and adjust it consciously, instead of keeping it fixed high all the time.
How do senior managers react to playful exercises?
At first with reserve, then with interest, because the exercises touch directly on their real problems, decisions under pressure, tense meetings, not abstract leadership theory.
What does a manager actually train at this workshop?
Presence, flexible status, decisions without complete data and real listening: behaviours that every day of leadership requires, not new concepts to memorise.
Can it be run for a single leader, not a group?
The standard format is designed for a group, because many exercises need a partner or a team. For individual development, we discuss a separate option.
How long is a workshop for the leadership team?
The standard format is 2 hours. For longer-term development programmes, sessions can be repeated periodically, as a subscription.
