Team communication and adaptability workshop
facilitated by Bogdan Grigore · founder & lead facilitator Improvizatie.ro
Improvizatie.ro facilitates team communication and adaptability workshops for companies, built on applied improvisation, with the outcome being behaviours practised in the room and carried into the team through debrief: listening all the way through, building on each other's ideas, adapting to the unexpected. A 2-hour format, online or on site, for co-located, hybrid or remote teams. Since 2008, 150+ multinationals.

Who it is for
- HR and L&D looking for a hands-on format for communication skills, not another day of theory.
- Team managers who see the same problems in every meeting: people who do not listen to each other, ideas cut off with a "yes, but", conversations that start over from scratch.
- Teams in silos, where departments work on the same project without talking to each other.
- Hybrid and remote teams, who rarely meet face to face and have lost the informal context they once communicated through.
- Newly formed teams or recently reorganised ones, building from zero the way they work together.
- Teams going through change: a new process, a new tool, a new structure. Adaptability is trained, not declared.
The problem it solves
A team's communication problems show up in concrete moments: the colleague who waits for their turn to talk instead of listening, the good idea that dies in the first "yes, but", the department that finds out late what it is supposed to do, the team that freezes when the plan changes overnight.
A communication workshop built on applied improvisation works exactly on those moments. The team practises in real time: listening all the way through, building on the other person's idea, expressing things clearly, reading nonverbal signals and staying functional when the situation leaves the script. Every experience is followed by a debrief, where the team names what happened and where that behaviour shows up on Monday morning, at the office.
What behaviours it trains
- Active listening: hearing what the other person said before rehearsing your reply.
- Building on the other person's idea: the "yes, and..." principle instead of "yes, but...".
- Adapting to the unexpected: staying functional when plan A disappears, without panic and without freezing.
- Nonverbal communication: posture, eye contact, pace, what the body says before the words do.
- Message clarity: being understood the first time, in the meeting and in writing.
- Feedback: giving it and receiving it without wrapping it in phrasing that cancels it.
For hybrid and remote teams
Most communication programmes are designed for a training room. The hybrid team has different problems: the remote colleague misses the hallway conversation, the written message loses its tone, online meetings have one active speaker and everyone else on mute. The session is delivered online, with all participants on their individual video cameras, so everyone works on equal footing, or in a mixed format, with part of the team in the room and part remote. The exercises are adapted for video, and the debrief links the experience to the distributed team's real situations: online meetings, handovers across time zones, conversations that get lost on chat.
What a session looks like
| Duration | Number of participants | Space needed | Language | Online or in person |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 hours (standard format); full day or a recurring programme, on request | the reference group is up to 12; for larger groups, sessions are merged | a room free of furniture, where people can move; online, individual video cameras | Romanian or English | both, at the same price |
The session starts from the team's objective, continues with pair and small-group exercises selected for that objective, and ends with a debrief. People do, then name what they did. Nobody gives a lecture and nobody is asked to improvise alone in front of the others.
What you get afterwards
- The debrief, which links the exercises to your team's real communication situations.
- Professional photos taken during the session by the facilitator: memory anchors for participants and, if you want, material for internal or external communication.
- Challenges between sessions, if we work in a programme rather than an isolated session.
The discovery call, session design, facilitation, debrief and photos are included in the price. The venue, catering and travel outside Bucharest are not.
A use case
The sales team of a pharmaceutical company.
The problem: doctors and pharmacists have very little time for a medical representative. In a few minutes you have to earn their attention, stay present and respond to what is actually happening, not to what you prepared.
The format: four 90-minute sessions, one for each skill: presence, spontaneity, charisma and storytelling.
The outcome: the representatives held more attention in their conversations with doctors and pharmacists. Along the way, the sessions also became a place where colleagues got to know each other better and learned from one another.
What we aim for a representative to say after a programme like this:
- "I thought you needed the perfect pitch in front of a doctor. I left with something more useful: I listen to the first ten seconds and respond to what I see, not to what I prepared."
- "What surprised me most was how fast we went from nerves to play. And I learned things about my colleagues I didn't know after three years on the same team."
- "At the pharmacy you get two minutes between customers. Now I walk in with a short story instead of a list of benefits."
Who facilitates
Bogdan Grigore, founder and lead facilitator Improvizatie.ro. Since 2008 he has facilitated hundreds of workshops, events and conferences for over 150 multinational companies. He led IAF Romania, the local chapter of the International Association of Facilitators. He takes the photos in the room himself, which means no stranger with a camera walks in on a team that has just lowered its guard.
The proof
Since 2008, over 150 multinational companies, of which 45 are named publicly: Adobe, Allianz, BCR, Coca-Cola, Danone, IBM, ING, Johnson & Johnson, KPMG, L'Oréal, Oracle, Samsung, Servier, Ubisoft, Unilever, Vodafone and others.
"He is one of those facilitators who do not just deliver content, but create contexts in which people learn from each other and build real connections."
Roberta Ioachim, Training Manager, Servier Romania
How much it costs
A single 2-hour session, for a group of up to 12 people, costs €750. The price drops to €600 per session on a 10-session plan and €500 per session on 20. Online or on site, the same price. For a full day or a multi-theme programme, the offer is customised.

What it is NOT
- It is not a slide-based communication course: the skills are practised in real time, not memorised.
- It is not an acting or stand-up course: we do not train comedians.
- It is not a show: nobody watches, everyone plays.
- It is not group therapy and it does not push people suddenly out of their comfort zone. Exposure grows gradually, with their consent.
- It does not produce behaviour change from a single session. For that there is the programme format, with repeated sessions.
Frequently asked questions
What is a team communication and adaptability workshop through applied improvisation?
It is an experiential learning format in which the team practises communication behaviours through improvisation exercises, then names them in a debrief that links them to real situations in the organisation. It trains listening, building on the other person's idea, adapting to the unexpected and nonverbal communication, not acting technique.
Does it work for hybrid or remote teams?
Yes. For distributed teams, the session is delivered online, with all participants on their individual video cameras, so everyone works on equal footing. The exercises are adapted for video, and the debrief links the experience to the distributed team's real communication: online meetings, written messages, handovers across time zones.
How long is it and how many people can take part?
The standard format is 2 hours, for a reference group of up to 12 people. For larger groups, several sessions are merged, and for sustained development the sessions repeat periodically in a programme.
How much does a team communication workshop cost?
A single 2-hour session, for up to 12 people, costs €750. The price drops to €600 per session on a 10-session plan and €500 per session on 20. The price is identical for online or on-site sessions.
What is the difference from a classic communication training?
Classic training explains what active listening is and practises it through role-play with prepared scenarios, usually in a 2-day programme. Here the team practises the behaviour in real time, without a script, in 15-20 short situations per session, and the debrief immediately links what happened to behaviour at the office. The price is public: €750 for a 2-hour session.
Our team is shy. Are we forced to perform?
No. Nobody is pushed on stage and nobody is judged on how funny they are. The exercises are sequenced to build psychological safety before asking for exposure, and the session is calibrated for reserved teams.
Can it be integrated into an annual development programme?
Yes. Communication and adaptability are trained better in short repeated sessions than in one long day. A realistic programme is one 2-hour session per month, with a single behavioural theme and an applied challenge between sessions.
What does the company get after the session?
A debrief that links the exercises to the team's real situations and professional photos taken during the session, used as memory anchors for participants and, if the organisation wants it, in internal or external communication.

Next step
If your team's problem is broader than communication, these pages describe the specialised applications of the same method:
- Team building through applied improvisation, for trust and barriers between departments, from 6 to 100+ people.
- Leadership and managers, for presence, flexible status and decisions under pressure.
- Creativity and innovation, for idea meetings that produce nothing.
- Soft skills, for modules integrated into internal academies and development programmes.
- Applied improvisation training for business, the overview of the method.
